Børge Mogensen's 2211 Chair has the style and quality you'd expect from classic Scandinavian design. Modernist and functional, its geometrical, clean lines are offset by padded cushions for maximum comfort and aesthetics. The 2211 Chair is upholstered by hand in aniline leather, which has a natural appearance that improves with age. The four hardwood legs provide an interesting visual contrast as well as offering sturdy support. With a choice of eight colours, the 2211 Chair offers style and versatility for any room. Go for black or white for a classic look, red for a dramatic statement, or camel and sand colours for a more natural look.
The story behind the Mogensen 2211 Chair
Børge Mogensen created this chair in 1962 for his home in the Gentofte region to the north of Copenhagen. It is apparently still there to this day, placed between the two tables that dictated the chair's measurements. Many of Mogensen's chair designs are said to have been a continuation of his mentor's Kaare Klint's sofas of the 1920s. There are certainly influences of Klint's geometrical style in the 2211 Chair, but Mogensen's work is distinguished by increased comfort and functionality. His modernist approach has contributed to the 2211's enduring popularity in homes, government buildings, embassies and executive the world over. The 2211 Chair is part of a collection, which includes the 2212 2-Seater Sofa and 2213 3-Seater Sofa
