The Kubus Stool features individually sewn puffed panels that make the stool extra comfortable. Available in aniline leather, the padded stool is perfect for extra seating or for combining with the Kubus 3-seater sofa. As it has such an unimposing size and shape, it does not take up too much space. You can even as a small side table for when you need some extra space. A timeless design that neatly fits with any style and in any space, the Kubus Stool is a high-quality leather accessory that was built to last.

Story Behind The Kubus Stool

Josef Hoffmann's designs are a superb example of the Modernist Movement, with a particular focus on Cubism. The Kubus Stool has a complex simplicity which is demonstrated in the precise measurements and geometrics of the ottoman. Hoffman's design conformed to the modernist designs as he ensured the 'mathematics' of his designs were correct. Hoffman's Kubus design is timeless because of the balance in this irresistible design. The solid wood frame makes the stool sturdy and the deep padded cushioning provides a comfortable seat that is reliable. A mixture of classic design and the contemporary style means the Kubus Stool is comfortable as well as stylish.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

FLORENCE KNOLL

1917 (United States)

Josef Hoffmann was born in Moravia, now part of the Czech Republic but he spent most of his adult life in Austria. He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and fell in love with the country, staying there until he died in 1956. It’s for this reason that he is often described as an Austrian designer. Hoffmann had an unmistakably minimalist style and was at the forefront of the arts and craft movement in the early 1900s. Today, his designs are globally reproduced and his originals are displayed in world-famous museums, including the MoMA in New York and V&A in London.
